The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), currently led un the UK by CEO and Commissioner Elizabeth Denham, was founded in 1984. The ICO is an independent public body that reports directly to the UK parliament and receives its funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The main purpose of the Information Commissioner’s Office is to uphold information rights of citizens within the UK and regulate organisations that process and control information.
The ICO will handle and investigate concerns from the public regarding the safety and protection of personal information.
