UKAS accredited ISO 27001

Alliantist earns Cyber Essentials certification and launches a simple low cost service to help others achieve it too

We’re proud to announce that Alliantist, the company behind ISMS.Online, has been awarded Cyber Essentials certification by IASME, one of four Cyber Essentials accreditation bodies appointed by the UK Government.

We have been compliant with Cyber Essentials since it was released but until now have concentrated on independent validation being achieved through our broader UKAS accredited ISO 27001:2013 certification, the international standard for Information Security.

The submission for Cyber Essentials certification was independently assessed by Security Risk Management Solutions, an IASME certifying body. Dr.Emma Philpott, CEO of IASME, congratulated us on our certification and said “It’s a clear demonstration of Alliantist’s ongoing commitment to information security”.

Commenting on this latest achievement Mark Darby, Chief Executive at Alliantist, said “As a trusted cloud software provider dealing with sensitive content, information security has always been important to us. Supplementing our existing ISO 27001 certification with Cyber Essentials gives further reassurance to our public and private sector clients who are increasingly seeing the two certifications as the standards to meet. Cyber Essentials means that we have independently met the five important technical security controls to protect against cyber attack”.

Mark was clear how Cyber Essentials could help other organisations at earlier stages of information security maturity,  “We worked really hard to achieve ISO 27001 a few years ago and have kept improving that system. Those requirements are a challenge for any organisation, and rightly so.  However the Cyber Essentials scheme offers a more achievable starting point for information security assurance and we endorse that. In fact, given the way Alliantist achieved it using ISMS.Online, we have now also made it even easier for organisations to prepare and demonstrate readiness for certification themselves.”

The Cyber Essentials Scheme is often seen as the first affordable step towards further information security credentials such as ISO 27001:2013.

For this reason, preparing and managing Cyber Essentials compliance within a purpose built future proofed and expandable secure online environment from day one makes sense.  It allows for a more comprehensive Information Security Management System (ISMS) to be developed around it, without the need for duplication or repetition, at lower total cost and risk too.

Information and its security is at the heart of an organisation and its supply chain, so being able to communicate and collaborate with staff and other stakeholders on the subject is essential.

It’s why we’ve added a complementary framework for achieving Cyber Essentials to our existing solutions for the wider ISMS and implementing and managing ISO 27001.
